Instead of working on yet another presentation (I have yet to come up with a topic for), I am dreaming about all the things I would rather become than a doctor:
- a pilates teacher
- a stay at home mother of four
- a graphic designer: invitations anyone?
- an etsy shop owner: jewelry maker, crochet/knitting, toys, baby clothes
- a pastry chef
- a breakfast cafe owner
- a party planner
- an architect
- a guide to nature hikes
- a scuba diving instructor
But that’s all unrealistic. Instead maybe i should just try to make more of an effort to bring those things into my life in a less grand way. So practice pilates more often. Plan breakfast party’s for my friends and design the invitations. Go for walks on the weekend, spend more time on crafting and have a few kids.
That still leaves me with all the things i don’t want to do though: reading medical journals, preparing presentations, evening/weekend/night shifts, feeling SO responsibel, being afraid to make mistakes, feeling judged every minute of every working day, feeling like after 7 years of studying i still don’t know anything and am still a novice at everything.
I just can’t seem to concentrate on anything anymore and I don’t know what to do about that.
(I took this photo during a weekend at the house of a friend in France this summer. Life always seems to slow down when we’re there and in those moments it somehow feels just right)
The breakfast thing..
The other day someone flirted with me and offered me a champagne and strawberry breakfast one day.. followed by a knowing look. Never the best of lines.. but for two reasons in particular:
1. As a die hard morning person i’m always the one up first anyway and i’m way too impatient to lay in bed while someone makes me breakfast (not a terribly romantic thought i know).
2. I wasn’t too impressed with the offer, because to be honest, i’m rather good at the breakfast thing myself.
I present exhibit A:

Blueberry pancakes
Exhibit B:

A simple breakfast for two.
Ok, this exhibit thing sounded cute the first time, but now it’s a bit stupid.. here’s the rest:

Blueberry muffins

Eggs anyone?
And perhaps a home made cappuccino:

Also, on occasion i’ve been known to make something i never thought possible to create in your own home: cinnamon raison bagels ! (sorry no photo) Love these! I make a whole batch, cut them in half, put them in the freezer in pairs and then when i want to eat one take it out and put it in the toaster for a few minutes. Add a little butter and you’re all set. Yum!
Not surprisingly all recipes are from the lovely smitten kitchen.
